5 years ago I wanted to have more conversations about consciousness with people I liked and respected. I invited a group of friends and colleagues to my home for a discussion and to explore how we could talk together about the things that matter to us. The experience was popular and people wanted to come back for more. As a result, since then, we have been running events, workshops, discussions and even a retreat at least once a month – and sometimes more.
For a long time everyone discovered ConsciousCafe by word of mouth. They invited friends who they thought would like and enjoy ConsciousCafe and their friends invited more friends. A typical ConsciousCafe group is very diverse, consisting of thoughtful professionals of all ages and all backgrounds, people wanting to explore more about the world we live in and wanting to do this in a relaxed way with people they feel comfortable with. They are not afraid to go within and explore their emotions and also look at what Jung described as ‘the shadow’; they are sufficiently knowledgeable and experienced to know the benefits and mastery to be obtained from overcoming your fears of the unknown. They are also ready to contemplate the big questions of the Universe about where we come from, why we are here and what the unseen worlds that surround us might look like.
Now Consciouscafe is expanding so we can offer more likeminded people the chance to take part in our discussions. We have recently launched three groups, one in Oundle, one in the New Forest and one in Bath. Each one is run by experienced conscious facilitators who are part of the ConsciousCafe team. More groups will start in different parts of the country later this year.
ConsciousCafe is about creating a safe space for exploring and engaging on a deep level. It is only when we have the opportunity to articulate our thoughts and ideas that we can truly know what we are thinking. It is always a great privilege to take part in a ConsciousCafe conversation. There is always new learning to take away – and we never take ourselves too seriously so a ConsciousCafe event is always fun as well.
