I was featured in the Guardian this week as I was invited to comment on why I think sales of mind, body and spirit books are growing at such a fast rate this year.
It is very exciting for people who have worked in this area for a long time to see that the public are in the mood to respond to the work of new spiritual writers as well as continuing to read classic authors.
While there are many people who complain about the silos that technology has created, there are others who rejoice in the opportunities presented by the worldwide web to learn from one another and to understand people’s different points of views from all over the world better.
I have always felt very proud that when I was publisher at Piatkus we were among the first to appreciate the growing interest in the subject of mindfulness. As a result, in the mid 1990s, Piatkus published the classic books on the topic by Jon Kabat-Zinn. He was responsible for originating so much of the work which has inspired millions of people to explore the experience of meditation and the monitoring of daily thoughts as a route to the practice of mindfulness.
